The Huskies Adventure was a 13 kilometer run thru winterland.
The team of Aurora and Oyen was in front of us. Aurora was the one driving, Oyen was the passenger, and five dogs were pulling them.
E—-“Hiyaaa”.
A—-“Tart, di ba pang horse yang hiyaaa hindi pang dog?”
If not for the hot office of Safarkit, I would rate the Huskies Adventure ride as a 10. I truly enjoyed the fresh air, the comfortable dog sled ride. It was a lot of fun and I highly recommend this activity to all who would dare brave the snow.
National Geographic and BBC Earth have featured dog sledding in Alaska, Iceland, North Pole, Canada, etc. I once caught a documentary about a dog sled competition involving thousands of kilometers.
We passed thru the woods and some beautiful scenery
We stopped for a few minutes. When the dogs started running, Aurora who was driving the sled Oyen was riding on, was left behind. Oyen didn’t know at first that there’s no more driver. Her dogs were running uncontrolled. We picked Aurora up so she could catch up. The tour guide appeared within minutes and helped Aurora get back on the sled.
Aurora and Oyen switched roles. Aurora’s turn to sit down and relax while Oyen drives. Their dogs went on a detour after they saw one of the guides.
The black dog was not focused during running. He kept on kissing and licking his partner.
After two hours, we were back to where we started. I didn’t feel the passage of time. When you’re doing something so much fun, you don’t notice the time. Bitin pa nga ako, gusto ko pa ulit.
The snow mobiles are used by the guides when they follow the dogs’ treks to make sure everything goes well during the runs.
This two ran not side by side but body by body. They were always rubbing their heads, shoulders, against each other. The black dog was always putting his head on the other dog’s neck and licking him / her.
Matagal na kaya silang mag-boyfriend?
There was a debriefing after the run. We were served hot juice, coffee, tea, cookies.
This company has 150 working dogs that they rotate during runs and peak seasons. If you find that many, there’s a company in Rovaniemi with over 400 working dogs.
