The South Las Vegas Boulevard with the highest concentration of themed hotels and casinos is referred to as The Strip. The most colorful and crowded section is so far from the Fashion Mall up to Mandalay Bay which is approximately a 30 minute leisurely walk.

The Strip is a place like no other. It has more than 20 of the grandest hotel casinos in the world which are resort like and packed with luxury boutique shops, restaurants, and entertainment other than the money-busting sprawling casino floors. The Strip is where you’ll find the best concerts , magic, comedy shows on earth.

There are also cheap souvenir stores. If you don’t want to spend too much on branded items, famous discounted stores Marshalls and Ross are centrally located right on the Strip across Monte Carlo.
Shopping is super charged in this hemisphere. There are more Louis Vuitton stores than my number of credit cards.
There are escalators and walkways to cross from one building to another, including a monorail but still, be prepared to do a lot of walking.
The city’s goal to make The Strip a family friendly place is evident with the newly built attractions that cater to “clean fun” such as the Ferris Wheel, Paris’ Eiffel Tower, Bellagio’s magnificent dancing fountain, Luxor’s 30 story high Pyramid, Rio’s Zip line from one tower to the other, Venice’s Grand Canal, among others.
But there’s still no denying that many, mostly men, come to Vegas to gamble, drink, watch topless shows, have s e x with prostitutes. Although prostitution is illegal in Las Vegas, this is somewhat tolerated as shown by the presence of large billboards and advertising materials promoting escort services. There are people who openly distribute flyers with photos and contact numbers of naked women offering escapades.
When you think of Las Vegas, you think of casinos. But I discovered in my two week stay that that’s not all there is to it. Yes, the hotels and casinos are the major attractions and main income generating for the city, but the place could also be a family destination enjoying clean fun and bonding. Eating, shopping, watching the greatest shows, sports, rock climbing, trekking, boating, There are lots of other areas to promenade like downtown Summerlin, Lake Las Vegas, Lake Mead, Red Rock, etc. Hoover Dam is 45 minutes to an hour away from the Strip. There are at least 40 golf courses in this 135 square miles of desert.
The weather was perfect when I was there. Sunny but pleasant and a bit cold at night. I was advised to avoid the hottest months of June, July and August when visiting this part of the Mojave Dessert. Late September, October, November, March and April, and early May are the perfect months according to a local. Maybe this is the reason why conventions, exhibitions, and sports events are held during this period.
The annual Rock and Roll Las Vegas Marathon is held every November at the Strip.
They picked the perfect day because the temperature was perfect on that day.

It was such a lovely time to be at the Strip. I somehow enjoyed my aloneness but it also made me miss my family more.
