I recently shared a table with a woman I met for the first time. She looked happy and exuded confidence and contentment. Or so I thought.
Within seconds we already found a common topic, MIGRAINE. But after 10 minutes, the topic shifted to her life as a wife, sharing her husband with two other women. One was her husband’s secretary, the other one, also their employee.
She talked about them with no bitterness. She said pera-pera lang yan. “Basta sinusustentuhan nya ako, wala akong pakialam kung anong gawin nya. Basta may pera ako”.
She told me she didn’t have a choice. She had nothing, she didn’t finish college, she had no money, She is 100% dependent on her husband. She takes everything in stride, for her pera lang daw. Basta may pera sya.
She said mabait naman daw ang asawa nya
binibigyan daw sya ng diamonds, mga watches.
I told her “di bale na akong hindi bigyan ng husband ko ng diamonds. I’d rather feel loved. I want my husband to love me, truly.”
