My Thursday, Friday and Saturday (September 13, 14, 15)

1. We avoided the traffic in EDSA and detoured to reach Ortigas Avenue. We were behind this Pepsi truck. Look at this guy, is he not going to fall if the truck makes a bad turn or a sudden stop?

2. We made a quick trip to the grocery last Friday. I bought 4 packs of Growers peanuts to send to Aileen
and this giant squid was displayed at the snacks / chips shelves

3. Kuya Lito went back to the US last Saturday night and I sent my sister a care package, containing herbal tea, dried Guyabano from Cebu, Growers peanuts, chips, and Lengua de Gato for my niece Kayleen. I also included a copy of Yes magazine and Philippine Tatler for Kuya Lito’s wife Dimple.

4. I visited Ford Cainta, konti na lang, awa ng Dyos malapit nang matapos. Edmund is so tired everyday sourcing for construction and finishing materials, para maka tipid kami.

Napalaki yung Bar, we have no more time to re-do it.

I gave instructions to the foreman and the workers not to smoke inside the building but I caught at least three people smoking while walking around, pretending to be working. I caught the tubero dropping the cigarette butt on the tiled flooring.

The guard reported that he found a shabu wrapper on the floor. I don’t even know how a shabu wrapper looks like. Edmund fired at least a dozen workers today. Kunsumisyon itong mga taong ito. We give them a chance to have decent jobs and yet they don’t value their work. Many of them steal small tools, materials and equipments from us.

5. I proceeded to Bahay Kawayan for my meeting with some retired officers. They did not want to eat at busog daw sila because they said they had Jollibee before coming to our meeting. But when I asked if they wanted Pansit Bihon, oo daw. They ordered some drinks and Minatamis na Beans. Since I was hungry, I ordered Pinangat na Dalag for myself but unfortunately walang itlog yung dalag.
When the bill came, the waiter asked for my companions’ Senior Citizen cards. I said it’s not necessary, but the waiter said “sayang din Mam”. Instead of P570, I paid P510 after discount plus P40 tip.
I hope when I get my Senior Citizen card, I will have enough money that I don’t have to ask for discount when I order Halo-halo. Parang mahihiya yata ako.

6. I bought some isda on my way back to Manila. I like going to the market during odd hours. The vendors are taking their siestas and there are no other customers but me.

She’s the Lola of Ariel and Arlene (remember the 14 siblings?). She recognized me and woke her husband up and another apo to help her. Medyo nataranta sya. I bought practically all her tilapia.
Lola——– “Mam, Para sa tauhan ba? Marami kang tauhan?
Me———- Oho, nasan ho yung mga apo nyo, si Ariel and Arlene?
Lola——– Madaling araw sila natutulog , hayan hindi maka gising at makatulong dito.
Me———- Sobrang dami na ho ng apo nyo, sabihin mo sa anak mo wag nang magdagdag, tama na labing-apat.

7. These are spouses Imelda, 49 and Crispin, 50, parang sa Noli Me Tangere. Their specialty is kalamansi, P20 a kilo and baby production.
Crispin was born in Bicol.
Me——– Ilan anak nyo?
Imelda—- Sampo (as in one-two-ten)
Me——– Dyos ko ang dami naman. Ilan ang mga edad?
Imelda—- 25, 24, 22, 19, 15, 13, 12, 10, 5, 3.
Me——– Crispin eh bakit naman sobrang dami, hindi ba kayo nag-iisip?
Crispin— Mam kasi nasa kontraksyon (construction) ako, buwanan uwi,
Me——- Kaya pag-uwi mo naman wala kayong ginawa kundi mag s e x
Crispin– linggohan uwi minsan, kaya…..
Me——- kailangan sikaping mapatapos nyo lahat anak nyo ha?
Crispin– Kaya nga ho Mam eto, nag ti tyaga magtinda kalamansi.
Me—— Magkano kinikita nyo?
Imelda– Minsan isang libo pag Linggo, pag ganitong araw, kaunti lang.
Me—– O, piliting maka graduate mga anak ha? at huwag nyo ng dagdagan.

Imelda and Crispin
Dapat ako sa Population Commission magtrabaho o kaya sa DSWD.

  1. they’d probably be irritated if you didn’t buy their calamansi and tilapia.. 😀
also, it’s amazing how people have so many palusot for having many children– just like what you mentioned– coming from the “hot” region of Bicol or husband comes home only on weekends hence a lot of “baby-making” to catch up on.. fun for the parents, bad for the children.

  2. I think your vigilance regarding construction workers smoking in Ford Cainta is commendable. Some people with very bad asthma can still violently react to it, even months after smoking has stopped and most other people can’t smell it, because microscopic particles cling hard to surfaces.

You know what they say, insanity is doing the same thing and expecting a different result.
