Tiny Ampalaya - Oh My Buhay

I’ve seen this miniature yellow fruit-like vegetable in the market but I didn’t know at first what it was. It was only when Edmund and I went to our neighbor’s field that we learned that this bright colored thingy is bitter gourd, bitter melon, biter squash or ampalaya.

tiny ampalaya

It’s a different variety than the bigger, longer, greener ampalaya that we ordinarily see.

We actually noticed the vines were crawling near the sidewalk. No one planted them, basta na lang tumubo.

We were told that these unique vegetable / fruit has many health benefits such as
1. laxative
2. helps lower blood glucose levels
3. ulcer prevention
4. gout
5. rheumatism
6. skin diseases
7. cancer prevention
8. cough relief
9. relieves indigestion and constipation
10. good source of vitamin B

  1. Good morning Ms. Annie!
