Toxic in Manila - Oh My Buhay

I hate to say this but it’s toxic living  in Metro Manila.

I don’t even want to go out anymore.  My life is curtailed.  My buttocks are sore from sitting long hours inside the car.   Yesterday afternoon,  it took me an hour from our house to Cardinal Santos Hospital,  dapat 10 minutes lang yan.

traffic, Edsa Shrine

My curtains are all turning gray from air pollution.  Morning and night I wipe my bathroom window sill and I always get the same black particles mixed with ordinary dust.  Imagine this same substance is probably in our lungs.  The air that we breathe is very toxic.    The biggest contributors are the motor vehicles– cars, trucks, jeeps, motorcycles, tricycles, buses.     Instead of traveling only for 15 minutes,  vehicles are stuck in monstrous traffic spewing smoke and burning fossil fuel unnecessarily for one, two, three LONG hours.  We are bombarding the ozone layer with heat and toxic chemicals.

We are choking ourselves to death.

If you can manage,  I suggest you just live elsewhere.   There are cities that are also progressive like Cebu, Davao, Iloilo,  Bicol,  maybe you can find something better to do there.  Life there maybe simpler and more laid back but more relaxed.  Avoid living in Manila.  The environment is no longer conducive to healthy lungs!  Just come here for vacation.   Stay in the province and inhale fresh air and eat fresh food.
