As soon as I entered the departure area, I heard loud chants coming from the floor below, the Departure level. I couldn’t see the crowds protesting because there were trees blocking my view.
I asked one of the guys standing at the entrance what it was about, what they were rallying against. He said Donald Trump imposed a travel ban coming from 7 Muslim countries, namely Libya, Iraq, Iran, Sudan, Yemen, Somalia and Syria, Oww.
I spoke to the airport manager and he told me this was the first time that this happened. Hundreds of people protesting and chanting. He said there were several flights that arrived and many passengers were barred from entering the immigration. Even those green card holders, student visa holders, etc.
After two hours, the protesters have also occupied the entrance at the departure area which immobilized the security clearing. Passengers catching their late flight missed their flights.
I liked what one protester said that the power of the people is greater than the people in power.
A judge ruled yesterday and suspended the travel ban. The US Department of Justice said this ruling will be overturned. America will be facing constitutional challenges in the next 4 years. Poor America, their great forefathers must be turning in their graves.
