December 12, 2017 Tuesday
We’ve all been looking forward to this family travel but because of our busy-busy schedule, we had no time to prepare or buy gifts, or pack. I was still busy the day we were leaving. My husband said we would leave the house at 3 pm but at 3 pm I was still somewhere out there, moving fast like a robot.
I got home at 3:30 pm and only then that I started packing. Kung ano na lang nadampot ko sa cabinet. Kung ano suot ko that day, yun na lang din suot ko paalis. My daughter and husband were worried about not having sufficient winter clothes. Sabi ko, ang daling bumili sa Ross or Marshall’s or Burlington or outlet.
Our flight was still at 8:55 pm but husband was eager to leave the house before 4 pm because he was worried about unexpected heavy traffic.
Our send-off party. Cute nila. Muntik pa kaming magka-iyakan. One is leaving for Los Angeles on January 3, 2018. He he meron na akong driver.
We arrived at the airport a little too early. The CX crew asked us if we would like to take the earlier flight at 7:55 pm. We grabbed that. We’d rather wait in HK for our connecting flight to the US rather than wait in Manila.
For a change we’re traveling on Cathay Pacific to the US. Last time I took this route was when Oyen was still based in NY.
Someone is playing golf under the icy winter pine. Ewan ko lang kung hindi sya sipunin.
We have two hours to kill. Shopping ba?
We didn’t have lunch so our goal was to eat noodles at the Cathay Pacific lounge.
PAL’s lounge is always packed contrary to CX’s tahimik. PAL has more food variety but CX’s is okay also.
This is my second time here. The first time was in August 2016 when Oyen, Edmund and I were flying to South Africa.
The very first time I came here, I was feeling extremely sad. Super. I was in a very pensive mood. I was like a zombie just moving but not feeling any excitement or joy. The problem created by my son was so heavy on my shoulders so while here at the lounge, I felt so alone, lost and desolate. I was like a walking dead. Parang umiiyak pa nga ako nun.
We ate noodles soup, siomai, siopao.
We’re the last passengers to board.
We’re all tired and looking forward to a two hours rest.
I picked seafood curry. Edmund did too.
A few months before our college graduation, there were some students who were na-enganyo to apply for airline jobs like ground crew and flight attendants. Someone also encouraged me to apply. I heard some of my classmates say that it’s a glamorous job, pays well, and of course the ultimate perk, they get to travel. Marami sila nag-apply. Ako hindi. It just didn’t appeal to me and it never crossed my mind that I would be working as an airline crew. Di ba nga childhood dream ko was to become a doctor? Medyo malayo yan sa dream ko.
I tried to watch tv while waiting for my food.
I liked the prawn and scallop curry. My husband did not.
Kaya pala my bag was so heavy I brought two wallets. The blue is for my US trips, the white wallet is for the Philippines. I forgot to leave behind the white.
I posted a photo of me and my husband and captioned it “off to our honeymoon”. Ayaw nya, he was asking me to delete that photo kasi yung mga buhok nya naka-spikes. So eto na lang ipo-post ko. What would be the caption? Alangan naman honeymoon alone. He also doesn’t want me to say we’re going on a honeymoon baka daw people will believe.
