As early as 3 weeks ago, Binangonan Host Lions Club president Jane Apostadero has asked me for trees for the Vicente Madrigal National High School’s tree planting project. I initially intended to just send the 200 trees but Jane suggested that I be there too.
I blocked my yesterday for the tree planting ceremony in Pantok Palangoy, Darangan, Binangonan, Rizal.
My call time was 2 pm and I thought I would be there on time, but when we reached that curved street in Muzon, Taytay, we wasted 30 minutes.
The traffic came to a halt and I thought there could be some accident, fire, or stalled vehicle. But none of these, only hundreds of passenger jeepneys positioning themselves to catch the few passengers, more like the EDSA buses that are engaged in scrimmage. It was a waste of people’s precious time, money (gasoline), air pollution, noise pollution (diesel engine continuously running, nag re-revolution, honkong horns and destruction of ozone layer and multiplication of my wrinkles.
We reached VMNHS at 2:10 pm, not so bad, I was late by only 10 minutes.
I was surprised, meron pa palang konting seremonyas.
The teachers, headed by Cecilia O. Celada, and the Binangonan Hosts Lion Club headed by Jane Apostadero showed their appreciation by giving me a certificate.
The Vicente Madrigal National High School occupies a sprawling 7 hectares of land. They still have a lot of space for tree planting behind the present school buildings.

They prepared the hole, the sticks and the lagadera beforehand. They even printed my name on a piece of paper.

The teachers even prepared merienda for me, pizza and 7-up, they were so sweet. I should have brought food. I didn’t know that they prepared a little something for me. Thank you.
