UBE and Sexy Back by Antonia

I bought ube in Tagaytay two weeks ago and haven’t cooked them. I asked Antonia if she knew how to cook ube. Yes daw. Even then, I still gave her some simple instructions to make sure we understood each other.

1. Talupan yung ube.
2. Gadgarin (Grate into POWDER form.
3. Pakuluan or ilaga (Cook in boiling water.)
4. Haluing mabuti (Keep on mixing it.)
5. Ilagay yung condensed milk.

*Another way of cooking ube is to slice it into smaller pieces, boil for half hour or until soft, smoosh, put sugar or condensed milk.

When I got home, I saw this pan with something that looked like macapuno with ube flavor.

Ube that looks like macapuno

She grated the ube a la macapuno.

She insisted that that’s how ube should be cooked.

Instead of getting mad at mada-dagdagan lang ang wrinkles ko, I just got a kaserola (casserole), put more water and dumped Antonia’s cooked ube. I gave her instructions on how to do it and I begged her to follow my instructions.

casserole, boiling water with ube

She’s nice naman as long as she follows my instructions for my wrinkles’ sake.

Have you seen her dance the chacha? She wasn’t satisfied because she didn’t have a partner and the music was not familiar to her. She requested for ROCK. I interpreted it as maybe she’s looking for modern music or disco music.
I typed disco. She didn’t like the first two disco songs I found on You Tube. Tunog luma.
Since Justin Timberlake is one of my favorites, sabi ko eto na lang Antonia.
Sexy Back. Okay daw.

  1. Dear Ms. Annie,
Thank you, thank you. Kanina pa ako naaaliw sa post mo. But this one with the ube is really hilarious. Ano ba yan. Kung ako ang amo ni Antonia baka hinimatay ako. Nakakawrinkles nga ano.
