Urticaria - Oh My Buhay

I had a big mommy scare last wednesday morning (November 7) when my son came to my bathroom and showed me his allergies.
I checked his back and was terrified when I saw red swollen botches all over his body. They looked really bad so I insisted that he went to Cardinal Santos. It was good his doctor was already in his clinic by 9 am.

Allergies - oh my buhay

Dr. Regalado told him that his allergies are called Urticaria or Hives which could have been caused by heat or his perspiration. ??? Parang I could not accept that theory kasi how many times naman that my son has been exposed to sunlight or heat. But on second thought, my son went to school the day before and he told me it was extremely hot because of the sheer number of students enrolling.

He was given three kinds of medicine- Benadryl 50 mg capsules, Prolix 20 mg and Itarax.
Urticaria is an allergic reaction to food or medicines and could also be triggered by exposure to extreme temperatures.

My scare is that my son ate a lot of streetfood on November 1, it could be a delayed reaction or maybe the bacteria has a gestation period, sobra akong nerbyos.

Doctor said- no need to have a blood test.
But the over-anxious mother insisted on having her son’s blood checked without the doctor’s knowledge.
I paid extra so I could get the results in an hour.

Nyke's blood test results - oh my buhay

The urticaria or hives have subsided and I am hoping  they would be gone forever.

  1. Annie,
I remember my cousin who had this Urticaria, he was in pain.
Then, I saw this blog of Connie Veneracion ( a lawyer and a very good cook)
She has allergies to a lot of things esply. food.
    Ms. Connie tried
    1) LAGUNDI capsules
    2) LAGUNDI dried leaves in teabags ( bought from Gourmet’s Cafe when she was in Tagaytay)
She said, Both were so effective.
She bought potted plants of Lagundi and planted them on her garden.
Btw, she doesnt endorse any product.
    Her blog http://www.casaveneracion.com/ lagundi
