My husband left the hotel at 6 am, while I continued to dream. He wanted to be able to get parking at the free public parking two or three short blocks away from the shuttle pick up station in front of the Carmel shopping mall.
I didn’t have to be at the golf course very early. I didn’t have any desire to see the other players. I was going only to see one person.
I took Uber from the hotel and it was driven by a Filipino named Renato. His wife is a nurse and he intends to retire at the age of 50 and just travel the world. They have three girls and they have a fourth one, a boy, now 7. He is training him to be a boxer. Renato loves boxing and knows nothing about golf but he knows who Tiger Woods is. I was his 10th passenger for the day and he would continue driving back and forth to the golf course until night time to take advantage of the US Open.
In July, he and his family, together with their friends and their respective families, would be trooping down Las Vegas for a few days holiday.
I met Edmund at the driving range just before 12 noon. Tiger would be at the driving range anytime so Edmund and I waited there with craned necks.

After Tiger left the driving range, syempre alis na rin kami.
It’s smart to wear something loud and different from the ordinary in events like this where thousands upon thousands of people are swarming the area.

We continued walking till we reached hole number 1. Tiger Woods was to tee off at 2 pm. I couldnt find a clearing. Too many people.
It would be nearly impossible to follow your favorite player from hole 1 to 18. The best way to do it is to choose two holes and wait for them there. There’s just too many spectators.
Here comes Tiger Woods.
For many years Tiger Woods suffered a decline in his career. But two months ago he won the Masters.
Many were already ridiculing him when he continued to suffer a slump in his career. I remained a fan.
There were a lot of very good golfers younger than Tiger. The older one gets, the less agile your body would be and your drives get shorter.
