I was the least surprised when I saw this US travel advisory posted at their international airport.
This particular job could probably be done in the future by a robot, an AI.
Why? Because I’ve seen some of the NAIA 3 & NAIA 2 & NAIA 1 security officers on duty performing below par while manning the baggage check x-ray machines. Some of them were not totally focused on the tv screen monitor. Yung isa halos sumubsob sa mesa at antok-na-antok. Yung isa naka-upo nga sa harap nung screen pero nakikipagkwentuhan sa kasamahan nya. One time I caught one female on duty, looking down on the floor instead of on the screen. Mukhang nagmumuni-muni. Yung isa wala lang, kung saan-saan nakatingin.
I know it must be hard to stare at the monitor to check and analyze each and every image, but it’s their job to do it competently. Maybe the number of hours must be reduced and they should take turns every so often so as not to diminish their efficiency.
