My husband arranged for a Valentines dinner in Podium but that afternoon I felt sooo dizzy after coming from the office. I fell asleep from 4:30 – 6:30 pm and my husband said we should just stay home. The two of us had salad for dinner. Earlier that day Oyen sent the maids to the movies and gave them money too for a Valentine treat.
My daughter came home at 8:45 pm with Vietnamese spring rolls and spicy river prawns but I was the only one who ate. Edmund was already asleep and I didn’t want to wake him up.
She also brought home cheese tarts which she said are now very popular.
I found it too sweet.
We’re not really big on Valentines Day, of course we were when we were still unmarried. We made some efforts before like movie, concert, early dinner but the heavy traffic the past few years and waiting for a table have become discouraging. Last year Oyen and I had dinner somewhere in Kapitolyo but I believe that restaurant had closed.
The true meaning of this romantic celebration is beginning to lose it’s value as far as I am concerned. Husband’s bring their mistresses out too and as a perfunctory obligation bring their wives out too. But what is that for?
Palubag loob? Maybe in the same token, wives who have boyfriends also go out with their husbands and they celebrate too with their boyfriends. This is good for restaurants, motels, hotels and flower vendors.
My husband told me I watch too much television and read too much news about infidelities. Kasi I told him about the policeman who was recently gunned down while entering a motel with a twenty year old woman. I felt sorry for the wife who was interviewed and asked if she knew where her husband was and if she knew who the girl was. Dyos ko, would your husband call to say “Hello honey, mauna ka ng kumain kasi dadalhin ko sa motel yung babae ko”.
My husband also told me I take Dengvaxia too seriously. Hindi naman kami nagpa vaccine ng Dengvaxia so why would I be worried daw. He advised me to just enjoy my life because life is short. He said he only has 20 years left. I doubt it, I think my husband will live for 35 more active golfing years.
