Husband took me to a joy ride last Wednesday.
After our delicious pinangat na dalag lunch, he brought me inside Valley Golf & Country Club.
His car has no sticker but the guards let us in.
This is where golfers hang-out after their games. If you’re husband says he’s going to Valley and hasn’t come home yet after 2 pm, go look for him here.
Edmund has been playing golf for probably 15 years. His first group of friends were William, Manolo, Larry, Gilbert, and Bobby. I think they met thru the teaching pro. Being a former athlete, he already knew the basics even before he hit the fairway. He just got a pro to validate if his body posture and swing were perfect. He was already fairly good. He didn’t start kulelat like some people na 55 ang handicap. I think within a year, his handicap went below 20. The lower your handicap, the better you are.
In the beginning, I felt sad when he would play golf on a Sunday. I thought he had no concept of family day and was very inconsiderate. I would bring my kids out without him. I would walk around the mall teary-eyed because I was unhappy. Many thought I was separated. But after several years, he stopped going on a Sunday, unless there’s a tournament or someone asked him to play and he couldn’t say no.
Also, I thought golf was an 18-hour game because in the beginning, he would come home late at night, almost midnight. So akala go hanggang hatinggabi ang golf. Siguro nagbabarkada sila after the games. Only after many years that I learned that morning golf ends around noon. Until now, it still bothers me that I never asked where he’d been, even once. I should have asked, because it’s useless to ask after 15 years, syempre he forgot na.
This 70 hectares property including mountains that extend to Antipolo originally belong to Don Celso S. Tuason and family. I think their landed clan still controls thousands of hectares covering Antipolo hills.
The country club is considered semi-private, because the corporation sold ownership shares to a few thousand people called members.
It was such a breather staring at this greeneries. The trees are large and mature.
I don’t play golf but I pretty much know a lot because of bits and pieces of information I pick up from my husband.
