I already knew beforehand that food at The Farm is not great. That’s according to my friends who have been to this place.
Atty. Mike Varela said he ate all dahon. Someone said he starved. A family of 4 went out to the town and had McDo.
I had very high expectations when it came to the place, but very low expectations when it came to their food. But even that, I was still taken aback by their strictly vegetarian meals.
My definition of vegetarian is no beef, no pork, sometimes no chicken too. But with fish and seafood.
The Farm follows a pure vegan diet. Even cheese and any kind of dairy are nil because they came from animals. High heat cooking is also discouraged because this could produce carcinogens.
The complimentary cocktails consisted of free organic and vegetarian crackers and salsa dip.
Our dinner was at their only restaurant, ALIVE!
It took us a couple of minutes to order because nothing in the menu enticed us. But we had to eat to live.
This organic soba noodles with stir fry veggies was surprisingly very good. It was highly recommended by the waiter.
I got so excited when I saw “Mango cheese cake” in the menu.
This had no mango taste. I was almost half-way and I still couldn’t figure out it’s taste. It doesn’t taste bad, but it had no taste. The waiter was very observant, he asked “mam, hindi nyo nagustuhan?” Of course I answered in the affirmative.
Next day’s meals were at the same place. We dined at their deck or terraza overlooking the farm’s coconut trees. Mount Malarayat could be seen in the background.
Who wants to share my super healthy lunch?
Bulanglang soup a.k.a. nilagang malunggay, camote at talong.
