Walk to the Passion Theater - Oh My Buhay

There were shuttle buses every 10 minutes from the major streets within the small town of Oberammergau.  Malapit lang daw yung Passion Theater.   I didn’t want to walk at first but when all my companions would be walking, aba ako rin.

It was a short te- minute walk and highly relaxing.  I enjoyed looking at the scenery, enjoying the cool weather, and the fresh air.

It’s fun walking in this town. I enjoy looking at  Bavarian-style houses.Bavarian houses

It’s only a short walk to the center of town where the Passion theater is located.  There were thousands of tourists. No more masking and social distancing here.

In 1633 there was a plague ravaging Europe and Oberammergau was not spared. The villagers promised (panata) to perform or re-enact Jesus’ suffering, death, and resurrection so that God would save the people of Oberammergau. Since then, no one has died from the plague. The villagers kept their promise and in 2034, the Passion Play would be celebrating its 400th year.

Millions of people from all over the world come here to watch the Passion Play performed by villagers every ten years.
