At the Christmas lunch of Womenbiz / Women’s Business Council of the Philippines held on December 5, 2018, at the Manila House Private Club, my colleagues gamely let me take photos of their wrist watches. It is interesting to know that there are good memories (and sad too) behind every watch.
Watches can be a better accessory than earrings and necklaces. It has more function and interaction and not just for beauty’s sake.
1. It tells you are late.
2. You look at it every minute or so.
3. It doesn’t need a smaller waist to wear one.
So readers here are the watches these active and empowered women are wearing at the Christmas lunch. I am publishing the photos for fun and no intention to brag.
1. Cartier yellow gold with diamonds
Evelyn Singson — “Dapat sinabi mo na pi-picturan mo, para yung mas maganda ang naisuot ko. I have a collection”. She’s so funny. When I first met Evelyn more than 12 years ago, I thought she was always serious yun pala she actually has a very good sense of humor.
This Cartier was gifted to her 20 years ago by her avid fan and suitor.
She was referring to her husband. We attend the same mass schedule that’s why Edmund and I always see the couple. Her husband is tall, white and handsome.
Evelyn—-“Tall yes, handsome I don’t know”.
A—-“Susumbong kita sa sweetheart mo”.
2. Rolex
Atty. Lorna Kapunan bought this Rolex more than 10 years ago in Macao.
A—–“Why did you buy it?”
LPK—-“Because I could.”
Lorna’s New Year’s resolution four years ago was to be more frivolous. I thought she said to be more fabulous. Hawig na rin, both begins with letter f, merong b/v and lous.
3. Guy Laroche
Chiqui Go, gift to her
4. Rolex yellow gold Pearlmaster with diamond bezel
Boots
No occasion gift from her husband. They were in HK for a conference.
While they were seated at the table, he suddenly brought out a box and told her “oh..”
Boots got worried and asked herself ano kaya ang kasalanan nito?
5. Vintage Rolex 1958, yellow gold with diamonds, winding
Bought in HK some 12 years ago. Gift for self.
The time is behind by 5 minutes because vintage watches are like that. Mukhang hindi nai-wind. 8 hours delayed.
6. Omega Constellation
Monette Hamlin— “Given to me by my beloved husband he’s dead na so it’s very important to me.” He died at the age of 60. He had yearly executive check-ups and results were always good. He was diagnosed with stage 4 cancer four months after his last executive check-up. Five months later he died.
7. Apple watch
Cynthia Mamon
This was given by her husband two years ago. Their family owns Enchanted Kingdom.
8. Rolex
Chit Juan bought this watch in HK seven years ago as a gift for herself.
This is not her favorite watch though. Her fave is a stainless steel Rolex yacthmaster.
9. Flor, pasalubong and birthday gift from her favorite sister in law 5 years ago. Flor is PNB’s chairwoman.
10. Armani
Mylene, given by her mister right.
(I think Jeannie was not wearing a watch that day, and Leah too.
(top row) Flor Tarriela, LPK, Chit Juan, Mylene Abiva, Evelyn Singson, me, Leah Caringal,
(front row) Cynthia Mamon, Chiqui Go, Monette Hamlin, Jeannie Javelosa, Boots Garcia.
Thank you, Ladies.
