We have three turkeys - Oh My Buhay

We have three Turkeys

We noticed a small karatula at the gate of a big house along Aguinaldo Hway last week. Live Turkeys for sale.

We went there last thursday. The guard was kind enough to let our vehicle in. It was a long downhill walk from the street to where the turkeys are.
The caretaker of the house of Danding Cojuangco in Tagaytay sells turkeys for P2,000 a piece.
Sobrang mahal kaya hindi kami bumili. Our budget was only P900 per turkey.

Here’s Edmund talking with the caretaker of Danding Conjuangco. The place is huge and has a commanding view of Taal lake. The guard said the owners no longer visit. Mukha ngang hindi na inaayos, the gate is puro kalawang na. This property would surely go to San Miguel Corp. current officers. The guard said it’s now owned by San Miguel. I stayed in the car kasi they have plenty of big dogs.

Edmund found an advertisement in Sulit. After playing golf in Canlubang yesterday afternoon, , he went to Indang, Cavite where the farm is located. He was able to buy 3 turkeys for P900 each. Two white male and one brown female.
He got a good price kasi daw last December they sold over a hundred turkeys at P1,500 each. Ngayong January, mahina ang benta nila kaya pumayag sa P900.

The farm owner told Edmund the two white guys are a pair, one male and one female but when they arrived at the farm, we discovered that they are both male. Edmund contacted the seller and he agreed to replace the male one with a female. Sabi daw kasi ni Edmund he wanted kulay puti. Basta na lang nila dinampot puti without checking their genders.

Chickie and Currie now has a bigger cage than this one.

That’s Denzel, the ulikba (black chicken) on the far right hand side. He was fighting with Currie that’s why Edmund ordered him expelled from the farm. In the meantime, eto sya, lost his freedom. Nakatali na. Ang kulit kasi.

*Denzel’s feathers are white but his flesh, beak and feet are black. He is the so-called black chicken many believed to be medicinal.

  1. It seems that there’s a mistake in the posting of pictures. The last picture which suppose to be Denzel shows not an ulikba.

  2. Denzel’s feathers are white but his beak, feet and flesh are black that’s why he is an ulikba or black chicken which many believed to be medicinal.

  3. Also, I think the chicken’s skin is black (under the feathers) likewise its meat and even its bones are black – the very reason why it is called “ulikba” or Chinese silkie chicken if I am not mistaken. Dumadami na Miss Annie ang alaga nyo sa farm 🙂
