We moved to the Old Course Hotel - Oh My Buhay

We moved to the Old Course Hotel

April 13, 2017

After a good three nights stay at Hotel du Vin, my daughter and I moved to the Old Course Hotel on the other side of the golf links. This was where we originally wanted to stay but the hotel was closed for renovation and only opened today.

We were already very much comfortable in our room Abelour and if possible didn’t want to move to the Old Course Hotel anymore. We’re too lazy and tired to pack and unpack. But we’ve made the reservations in advance and had paid for the room.

I left my big luggage with Edmund who stayed put at Hotel du Vin together with the golf participants.

The distance from du Vin and the Old Course was not too far and taking the cab or Uber was more troublesome so we just walked and dragged our luggage on asphalt but rough road.

I had a few stop-overs. Hay pagod.

No sweat, we reached the Old Course Hotel in maybe 15 minutes. I was too sleepy to pay attention to the hotel lobby. It looked the same as before. They probably renovated the guest rooms only and not the other parts of the hotel.

Surprisingly and disappointingly, our room wasn’t ready. They had all the time to clean it but the front desk said the contractor just turned-over the room so they were still cleaning it. It would be ready at 3 pm!!

We walked around the hotel’s lobby to kill time. We discovered that there’s a long and wide hallway with enlarged photos of past golf events in St. Andrews. It was like walking down memory lane. If you’re a golf fanatic, this could entertain you for a few minutes.

Even if we’re non-golfer, we somehow enjoyed looking at golf’s history.

At the farthest end of the hallway is a big reception or events hall. The red lanterns and chandeliers made me feel like I was in China and not in Scotland.

Our reservation for an afternoon tea was at 1 pm but the place wasn’t ready yet. We sat down on one of the plump sofas at the lobby and I dozed off for about half hour.
