Romantic Status - Oh My Buhay

Romantic Status

I could feel the big difference in today’s generation when it comes to approach to romantic relationships.

Before, we only had 3 stages:
1. Courtship (Ligawan) – sending flowers, love letters, nilagang mani wrapped in brown supot, aakyat ng ligaw, ihahatid sa school, susunduin, tawag sa black phone.
2. Sinagot na – in-love na, mag boyfriend na. — Nood ng sine, lips to lips na umaatikabo, punta sa Cubao, kain ng mami, bisita sa bahay.
3. Kasalan na.

Now, there are so many sub categories.
1. Courtship:
– Introduction
– We’re talking (text-text lang, not yet going out together)
– Going out together but with friends
– M U (mutual understanding)
– Dating but not exclusive. Date mo ko, date mo sya.
– Exclusively dating, but not officially sweethearts.

2. In a relationship
Official – this is when they start counting the Weeksarry.

3. Proposed
4. Engaged (proposal accepted). This is followed by a Facebook announcement and engagement party.

5. Wedding
Change of status on Facebook to Married.

6. After a few years:
Status subject to change without prior notice:

– It’s complicated
– Separated
-Legally separated
-Annulment in process
-Finally annulled
-Single but not looking
-Single and available
-Open for business

*Divorce is not listed because there’s no divorce yet in the Philippines.
