Oyen and I just stayed in the room the whole day today. We needed to let our bodies recover from the jetlag. I woke up at 4:30 am, then fell asleep again at 5 am, woke up at 7:40 am. By 1 pm, I was so duling na from sleepiness.
Instead of going out for lunch, Oyen and I had instant noodles. Baon namin for emergency food.
Our room phone started ringing at 6 pm. It was my Kuya Junior “Hello, magsisimula na yung barbeque”, “Kuya, susunod na lang kami, hindi pa kami ready”.
They were looking pala for us the whole day, but they figured we were resting.
We arrived at the barbeque area at exactly 7 pm.
Giant hydrangeas or milflores abound in the garden by the outdoor pool.
This guy continuously grilled beef burgers and hotdogs.
Most of the guests had already eaten but there was still plenty of food.
I ate two hotdogs on a bed of lettuce and arugula, plus I wrapped 4 more and brought them to our room for my midnight snack.
I’m surrounded by Tans. (left to right), My nephews: Randy (groom and Kuya’s 4th son), Kuya Junior, Roderick (Kuya’s 2nd son), Dr. Ric Tan, III (Kuya’s eldest son)
Atty. Ryan Tan, Kuya Junior’s youngest son. Ryan strictly adhered to the wedding’s suggested motiff– Roaring 20s
It’s so nice pala to have a huge garden. This looks more like a golf fairway.
I felt nostalgic when I saw lots of alitaptap (fireflies). When I was little, there were lots of fireflies in Ka Chayong’s frontyard. I could see them from our windows. And when my father would bring my mom to the Morong General Hospital in the middle of the night, using our jeepney, the inside of our vehicle would have several fireflies while we cruise along the zigzag side of Cardona’s mountain.
Waiting for fireflies
We’re being bitten by mosquitoes so we went inside the main building.
Happy Independence Day America!
The bbq ended at 9 pm. We all moved to PUB 1910 for dessert. I thought the 1910 was the bbq time, 7:10 pm.
Oyen—- “Mom, that’s part of the name , PUB 1910, not the time. Why would anyone have a party at 7:10?”
Ang bobo ko talaga.
Sydney and Oyen ordered dessert. When Kuya Junior saw the ice cream and cake, he said “That’s dangerous”.
He’s a doctor kaya he’s careful with what he eats.
I wanted to order ice cream for myself, nahiya tuloy ako sa Kuya, baka punahin ako.
Double Chocolate Mousse Cake with blackberries, blueberries and a strawberry.

Destination wedding pala is nice too. We got to meet Amanda’s family, friends, and relatives. We’re all stuck together in this remote hotel. There’s only one restaurant, no place to wander.
We’re basically contained. Unlike in traditional wedding receptions, we just go and eat, tapos uwian na. We don’t even get to meet the bride and groom, their parents, and guests. At the dining table, we just converse with our companions.
I’ve decided we’re going to have a destination wedding for 150 people on our 50th wedding anniversary. I am going to draw a guest list and send an advance “Save the Date” notice.
Parang it’s still too far, some of my friends are in their mid 70s, they might not be able to make it.
Ideally, on our 30th, but Edmund doesn’t want to marry me again.
Sige, 35th wedding anniversary na lang. no wedding, kain lang and pasyal.
Family and super close friends, save the date!
