Wedding in Antonio’s

We were invited to the wedding of the eldest child and only son of Edmund’s golf team mate Joel San Vicente.

The invitation said Strictly Formal.   I wanted to wear a short dress but Edmund said we should  follow what’s indicated.   I asked him 3x to ask his friends if their wives would wear long gowns but husband didn’t bother.  He instead, reiterated what the invitation said.  So gown it was.

Although Edmund had already informed me of this wedding as early as 3 weeks ago, I didn’t prepare beforehand. I was hoping he would stick to his plan of not going.
He thought we’re going to the birthday party of Oyen to Urban at the Fort on the same day- March 22. I told him we’re not invited, it’s only for young people.

I only had 3 hours of  sleep the night before. I went to the office late and came home at 4 pm. Edmund said we would leave the house at 4 pm. Kaya dali-dali ako. The problem was, I really did not prepare anything. I knew I had no gown that would still fit me but I was too lazy to buy or have one made.

At 4:10 pm I was  climbing chairs and looking for a gown from the boxes at the top of my cabinet.

This’ my wedding anniversary gown.  It still fits me but I didn’t want to upstage the bride kasi pang-fairy godmother  ito.     I didn’t want to be mistaken as the  mother of the bride either.

Okay,  this one na lang.

This was made by Amir Sali 2 years ago.  I have worn this a few times.    I had to sew the shoulder kasi  napunit.

The invitation indicated that the couple preferred a cash gift.     Edmund asked me for an envelope.

Edmund—— ‘ Tart di ba meron kang mga envelopes?

Me————  Red or yung ordinary lang?

They’re not Chinese so I gave Edmund one of my stationeries made in Italy.

I preferred to buy a gift sana but Edmund said it’s easier to just write a check.    Naalala ko tuloy nung kinasal kami,  merong mga nagregalo ng P20,  ang cu-cute nila.   Arinola at kulambo meron din.   Including a  flaming red sheer nightie I never got to wear kasi baka matakot si Edmund instead na ma attract.   Parang pang kabaret.

I only had 3 hours of sleep the night before.  Kitang -kita sa mukha.

We haven’t left yet pero antok na ‘ko.

All of a sudden it started pouring.   The sky cleared before we left the house.

We left at 5 pm and arrived in Antonio’s Tagaytay at almost 7 pm.     Edmund was relaxed because his friends were also late.

We’re not late actually.  The guests were still in the garden and many were still coming.

Our table assignment was callla lily daw.

Edmund———- ‘Tart, you want? Di ba gutom ka na?
Me————- Ayaw ko, matatanggal lipstick ko. (Di bale’ng manigas sa gutom wag lang matanggal ang lipistik)

I liked the floral centerpieces.  They’re elegant and  not over the top.  Just the right touch of romance.   I don’t like yung sobrang magarbo na ang taas-taas na hindi ko makita yung mga nasa harap ko.   Hindi ako na-i-impress pag ganon.  Parang naiinis pa nga ako. Pag-nag-uusap kayo para kayong nagpapatintero.  Bend your head to the left  tapos bend to the right.  Na-ma-migraine ako.

There’s no one to show us where calla lily table was.  Mahirap maghanap, iisa-isahin mo yung pangalan na nasa tables.

The whole Antonio’s was full.  Some of Edmund’s friends didn’t have chairs anymore.  Nagka-layo-layo sila.  Buti na lang, Edmund and I went inside the dining area just before they ran out of tables or chairs.

The service was fast.   Buti na lang kasi gutom na ako talaga.

Usong-uso ang pumpkin soup ngayon napansin nyo ba?   Kahapon eto rin ang niluto ni Jocelyn, yung kusinera namin.

I am torn between the two.  Whose pumpkin soup reigns supreme?

Aba hindi yata ito pumpkin soup.  Tila Tomato Bisque.  Bakit pareho ang itsura at lasa?

Det De Leon,  wife of Elmer,  and I went to the toilet together.

I asked her if she wants us to pee together, she laughed.

I got drunk from bottomless Dalandan Juice.

It was past 10 pm and we decided to leave na.

This wooden stairs used to be matt finished.  Ngayon they coated it with polyurethane.  I liked it natural.

We were on the second floor and didn’t know what’s happening downstairs in the main dining hall.

Some of the older guests left before the dessert.

Sabi ko na nga ba it’s not strictly formal.  Dapat nag short dress na lang ako.

Uwi na daw kami eh I haven’t even seen the bride and groom.

I told Edmund I would go down and look.

The bride pala is 28 years old and surnamed Legarda.  She’s pure Spanish yata although born and raised in the Philippines.

The groom is 25.  I was told they both like the beach and have decided to set-up house in Subic.   They’re planning to put-up an online company.

Their young relatives and friends paid tribute to them.  Nung time namin parang hindi uso yung ganito.

Basta kain lang, slice ng cake, pakawalan yung doves, mag-kiss, open gifts, tapos uwian na.

Our kitchen is under renovation because of termite infestation.  I want to have baldosa for our flooring pero I couldn’t find the design that I have in mind.  San kaya binili ni Antonio ito?

Okay my groom let’s go home,  antok na rin sya.

I didn’t check if my picture was here.  At sino naman daw ako para ilagay ang picture ko dyan.  Oo nga ano.

O sya,  kung wala eh di wala.  Uwi na tayo at lasing na’ko sa antok.
