There’s a Filipina working at the Max Studio boutique at the Las Vegas North Premium Outlet. I forgot her name but she’s from Zambales. She told me she likes Las Vegas because she feels like she’s in the Philippines. She said there are many Filipinos living here. According to the estimate, there are so far 200,000 Filipinos who call this place home. You won’t really miss our kababayans because you see them every where. That’s true.
There could be more Filipino restaurants in this small valley than in Northern California or in the East Coast. I spoke to the contractor of Teriyaki Boy and they are opening their 5th restaurant in Henderson. I saw a big Max restaurant a few blocks away from the hotel.
I didn’t know that there’s a big Goldilocks restaurant here not until Len and Bong told me they had buffet breakfast there last Saturday morning. They met up with their friend Philip Vital.
Len and Bong enjoyed their breakfast at Goldilocks’ that they chose to go back again, the next morning and this time with me.
January 14, 2017 Sunday
It was a little farther away from Tuscany Hotel, maybe 10 – 15 minutes. It’s at Maryland Parkway, along with Seafood City, Jollibee, Chowking, and many other lesser known kainan.
There’s a poster stuck near a basurahan outside of the restaurant. Manood kayo, patronize OPM. It’s the upcoming concert of the group of Haji Alejandro, Rey Varela, Marco Sison, and Rico J. Puna.
Is this Judy Ann Santos? Ang payat pala nya.
Bong paid $30 for 3 px upon entering. We were given bracelets similar in hospitals.
Welcome to Goldilocks
As soon as we entered, Bong spotted his friend Danny who is based here in Vegas. What a small world indeed.
It’s not buffet pala but you can go back to the counter and ask for more food as long as you want. This process cuts down Goldilocks’ food cost by preventing customers from getting too much food. It limits the wastage.
Their lugaw is a little malabnaw. The tokwa’t baboy is so anghang, naubo ako kaya. I also don’t like to eat a pig’s ear and fats so I gave it to Bong for him to finish.
I can’t believe myself. Ako rin naki gaya, hotdog nga! Breakfast pinoy talaga. I should’ve gotten one piece only.
Sardines go very well with sinangag na kanin (fried rice).
The brunch is only up to 11 am. We were engrossed talking we forgot to get some more food. I saw the staff covering the counter already, humabol kami ng ginataang munggo and fruit salad. I like guinataang munggo. Goldilocks’ version is medyo malabnaw rin like the lugaw but otherwise, okay lang din ang lasa.
