Grand Entrance where Mr. William Randolph Hearst welcomed his distinguished guests.
The exterior is made of marble. But in some areas, cement was used.
You cannot just go inside the building, you must be with a group. Included in the ticket is a 45-minute guided walking tour
We entered through this narrow doorway
If you are not fond of antiques and old buildings, then you will not be able to connect with this tour.
This is the main living room. I’ts full of 500 year old antiques that Mr. Hearst acquired from Europe.
This mantle is also 500 years old and from France.
The wood carvings used in the ceiling are also several hundred year olds, imported from Europe. I think it once adorned a church.
The living room is so dark. Dag-dag pa kasi thwooden wall panels are varnished with dark brown color. The panelings belonged to a church. Kaya parang simbahan yung bahay nya. Parang gusto kong lumuhod at mag rosaryo. Aba ginoong Maria puno ka ng grasya..
Ang Panginoong Dyos ay sumasaiyo
And what is this?
Natandaan ko na, old bible yata. Siguro 3D yan, pag binuksan mo maglalabasan ang mga santo.
I noticed that the sofas’ slip covers looked a little too colorful for a 100 year old castle so I asked the tour guide if those were original. They’re not. He lifted the skirt of one of the chairs and showed us the tapestry upholstery that’s original in the house. It’s made by a company named Barker Bros. and he said they are still in business and based in Los Angeles. Ko kontakin ko nga sila, ipa gaya ko ang silya ni William Hearst.
The marble busts around the house are all 400 years old.
Parang carossa ng Giwang-giwang
Next we go to the dining room, my favorite part of the tour.
