I’ve been planning to leave the office at 3 pm but got stuck.
At about 6 pm, Oyen told me that my former staff, Wendell, was in the showroom (Wednesday 3/20/14) and wanted to say hi to me.
I used to be a Volvo dealer and Wendell was one of my sales staff. He was a young graduate from College of Saint Benilde that time. Although very young, he exhibited a certain drive and natural entrepreneurial skills. Pag merong concerts, he and his girlfriend then, would get a spot and sell hotdogs. Masipag at maabilidad.
I closed Volvo and I transferred Wendell to the newly opened Mazda Makati. He handled the sales group for a while. He resigned and put up his own Volvo repairs shop. He also started selling Volvo accessories. He tells people that every thing that he knows about cars, he learned from me.
Magaling talaga yan kaya malayo ang narating. He’s now venturing into construction.
I made ligpit na my things, so in 5 minutes, I went to the showroom. Wendell was there with his friend, (I forgot her name) to pick up the Ford Fiesta her sister bought from us.
Her sister and husband arrived half hour later. While waiting, Wendell updated me with amusing stories about his life.
He and his wife had a grand wedding. The reception was at the Manila Polo Club and the Sultan of Brunei was there. I think he’s a friend of either Wendell’s dad or his wife’s dad.
He wanted me to be the ninang, pero alam nya na tatanggi ako, nahiya sya kaya he didn’t ask na lang. But I was given a chair at the presidential table, para na ring ninang.
He and his wife split after only a few years. Baka nga hindi few years, baka one year lang. They got a civil annulment.
He gained custody of his son and he’s now a devoted single father to a first honor kinder student. Hatid-sundo daw nya sa school and sya rin ang tutor. He’s very proud kaya naman feeling first honor din sya. His son is so lucky to have him as a father. He’s so devoted to him. He’s bringing his son to HK Disneyland soon as a gift for being first honor.
He has a doctor girlfriend of 5 years. He said he was planning to propose to her. He bought na the ring and booked their trip to HK. How romantic. 72 hours before their flight, she called and told him she has cancer. How could that happen? She just had a general check-up in April 2013 and everything was fine, then 5 months later, in September, stage 1C na sya? Pwede pala yun, ang bilis naman. Kaya daw pala she noticed that her tummy is getting bigger, yun pala she has a big tumor na in her ovary.
His girlfriend was operated on and one ovary was taken out. The doctor advised her to have a baby the soonest possible time. Then her other ovary would be taken out. The girl
s family is conservative, dapat kasal daw muna.
I advised him to pray and ask for guidance.
I wish her girlfriend recovers fully and live a long and healthier life.
Wendell (white shirt) with his friends. I will ask him for their names. The newly married couple who bought a Ford Fiesta are both doctors from Asian Hospital. The guy is a cardiologist, and the wife is a neurologist. I am sure their future babies would be geniuses.
