Dennis and his lovely wife Sylvia invited me again to their beautiful home in the heart of the city. I consider it both an honor and a privilege to be invited by this two wonderful people. Their hospitality is made even more special by the fact that they cook the food themselves. Merong personal touch.
With prior permission, I brought along Madeline to the dinner, as Edmund’s proxy.
The call time was at 7 pm, we were there by 6:50 pm. We were too early, the gracious hosts were still busy in the kitchen.
We made ourselves comfortable and one by one the other invitees arrived.
I was glad they were a bit late, the extra hour or two gave my stomach worms enough time to digest the cheesecake and crab cakes I ate earlier. By the time we started dinner, I was hungry and ready.
The table’s color motif was a combination of Thanksgiving and Christmas.
The host gave a short introduction of the dishes.
I had rice, squid, shrimps and veggies.
I made several trips to the buffet table.

I’ll call this dish chicken bukaka.
We were 9 guests. Every group that arrived brought a cake. I think I brought a bottle of champagne. Why did I say I think? I forgot na. It’s been two weeks.
Every dessert had strawberries. Parang merong strawberry festival.
Obvious that the guests were having so much fun.
Nancy and Ernie. No, they are not a couple. Nancy is married to the president of Rockwell. Ernie is sweet, reserved and demure.
The two gentlemen, Roy and Marco, are so much in love and are getting married in July. Sayang, I won’t be here to witness their romantic wedding.

Grabe, we had so much fun. It was such a great evening. All of us were just laughing and laughing. Nakakatuwa yung mga pinag-kukwentuhan namin. Meron ding konting politics.
