My husband told me that the son of his acquaintance jumped off a building because na in despair daw sa babae. He fortunately or unfortunately lived but with serious injuries. Syempre tumalon ka ba naman sa 7th floor. Kawawa sya at yung parents nya na mag-aalaga sa kanya at habang buhay yan na pasakit at gastos.
The word in despair means losing hope or giving up. It’s more commonly associated with scorned romantic feelings or unrequited love or attention. Halimbawa, meron kang gustung-gusto na babae pero ayaw sa’yo. Filipinos describe that emotion as “hayun na in despair”.
I may sound conceited but when I was in college, one of my wishes was “sana po yung mga hindi ko naman magugustuhan eh huwag na akong ligawan, huwag magkagusto sa akin, kasi baka ma-in despair”. The word in despair was very common on campus. kasi that was the time na ligawan ng ligawan.
I didn’t want to be the cause of a guy’s desolation and despair, for good reason because some suitors might become stalkers, drunkards. Mga lalaki ma drama rin naman.
To young people, it’s not always that the one you like would like you also. That the one you’re in love with would fall in love with you in return.
When you like a girl, don’t pour out all your emotions. Leave some for yourself, for your dignity. Even if you end up sweethearts, that doesn’t mean you will marry each other and live happily ever after.
Always be prepared na she can fall out of love, she can like somebody else, she can hate you, not like your face, not happy with you. Basta all sorts of things can come into play and you have no control of most of these things.
Sometimes, everything seemed ideal then something happens that breaks your relationship and your heart.
You feel deeply hurt, your ego is bruised. You cannot eat, you cannot sleep, you want to bend on your knees and beg for her love.
You think she’s the world to you and you cannot live without her.

If you happen to find yourself in this position, IN DESPAIR, please please please, ulit pa, please please please do not waste your life by jumping off a building or trying to kill yourself. That’s sooooo unfair to your parents who love you dearly. Your mom carried you in her womb for 9 months and prayed every single moment that you come out healthy and gwapo. She imagined you becoming this handsome gentleman standing proudly beside her. Tapos na basted ka lang, give-up ka na agad?
Be strong, for yourself, for your parents, for your siblings. Nung baby ka hinahabol ng daddy mo lahat ng lamok to make sure not a single one of them gets near you. Tapos sa isang babae, magpapatalo ka na agad.
Kung ayaw nya sa’yo, eh di huwag nya. Ako nung teenager ako ang motto ko, if you don’t like me, I don’t like you also. Kaya hindi ako na-in despair.
Problems are worst in the beginning because you would feel it’s the end of the world. I also felt that way when heavy problems hit us. When we discovered my son allowed himself to be duped by his friends I also wanted to sleep and not wake up. Pero hindi pwede, my kids need me, my husband will miss me. My siblings will cry. And more than any one, my son needs someone to guide and defend him. That made me stronger. But of course, I called on God all the time, for help, and to give me strength kasi nga ang bigat ng problema namin. But sometimes problems get solved in time. Sometimes solutions find its way to the problem and we don’t have to do anything. Para bang the problem will solve itself.
When it comes to love life, no matter how much it hurts, if the girls want someone else, so be it. Hayaan mo sya. Kung mahilig sya sa maspangit, bahala sya. The pain, the regrets, the tears, all those negative emotions would subside as time goes by. How fast you can forget or recover depends on you. You are the master of your own emotions. Do not allow a woman to rule your life or destroy your family.
If you are in despair, just allow it to pass because it will, sooner than you think. Hayaan mo lang, be patient.
Please, don’t jump, your mom and dad love you so very much. And one day, a girl sent by God will be by your side and will not break your heart.
