I saw a stack of blue dinner plates at a home furnishings store along the Main Street of St. Andrews. I went back twice to check it out. One plate is so heavy. I wanted to get all of it but I couldn’t figure out how I would be able to carry them back to the hotel or how to bring them to the Fedex office for shipping. I was tired and lacked energy so the task seemed so daunting. I dropped the idea with a lot of hesitation. I consoled myself by thinking that the whole set would cost me a big portion of my pocket money.
I flipped the plate to see where it was from. It didn’t say. The brand is William Yeoward, a manufacturer of crystals and plates in England. Maybe this is made in UK. It says Leckford. I don’t know if that’s the style of this plate or it’s referring to the village in Hampshire, England. Nowadays we’ll never know for sure unless it’s clearly stamped from where.
I went back to the store the next day to look at the William Yeoward blue plates again. Oh I liked it. I liked the color.
Decision made. Too heavy.
“Don’t buy”.
Walking into a store and finding things that I like and walking out without buying takes a lot of discipline.
oh i love the plates in europe. aside from the weight, i think they’re gonna break. i always travel from one place to another.
