Rue du Fubourg St. Honore has all the high-end stores. The street is narrow and the stores are close to each other which saves window shoppers like us a lot of steps. It’s a nice place to walk around and just do some window shopping if you want to keep your wallet untouched.
Edmund bought coffee while I made usyoso inside Hermes, Cartier, and Chanel. Ang bilis ko naman, I spent less than 5 minutes in Cartier and maybe 8 minutes at the Chanel boutique.
I didn’t visit Dior, we just took photos outside because we liked the building.
It was not a pleasant day to walk around the streets of Paris because of the rain. Edmund had no umbrella, he just used a small plastic bag to cover his head.
We saw a man holding a tray of pieces of chocolates inside a Lindt store.
A————- Tart, free tasting, pasok tayo.
E————-Anong…?
A————basta, pasok tayo, tikman natin.
We each got a small piece.
A————– Sarap.
E————O, Bibili ba tayo?
A———— Mabigat.
There’s a Villeroy and Boch store beside another Chanel boutique.
E———— O, hindi ka ba papasok?
A———— I will go inside.
E———— Ang ganda nito.
After a few minutes.
A———— Tart, merong kang 5 Euro? Wala silang panukli.
E———— Yan lang? Wala kang nabili?
A———— Ang mahal, Made in Germany pala.
A few more blocks and we reached Galeries Lafayette. Too many people, and mostly Asians.
It’s in front of this museum.
Lafayette’s grand atrium and lobby were impressive.
There was a bargain table at the entrance and dozens of Chinese people were looking at the cheap bags.
A few steps away was the Chanel section. 30 people were waiting in line outside, while a dozen more were inside the store.
Nung araw wala namang pumipila para bumili ng Chanel. Ngayon eh para bang may panic buying.
Instead of queuing-up for a P150,000 bag, please go to Makati Ford instead and plank that money-in for a downpayment for a Ford Fiesta, Ford Escape, or for a brand-new Mazda 3 at Mazda Makati. At least no one would ever doubt that you’re driving around with a FAKE car.
There was no line at Louis Vuitton but all agents were occupied. I just wanted to look at a bag and no one could attend to me. Umalis na nga ako. Plus I could almost hear my daughter saying “mom NO!”
LV 5,000 Euro x 59.60 = Pesos 298,183.95. I am not a fan of this style and of its tag price.
I went down to the ladies’ shoes section so I could sit and rest. My legs were so tired from standing and walking for several blocks. I sat down beside this circular shoe display.
There were two Chinese ladies who both bought a pair each of this red shoes for 180 euro each (P10,728).
I think their feet were aching too.
I liked this Jimmy Choo, but I was too lazy to take off my thick socks and my walking shoes. Plus I was sooo very tired to even look at stuff. I was more interested in finding a quiet spot to sit and rest.
Edmund went to the men’s building looking for a sweater. We were going to meet after an hour but I was too tired to window shop. The crowd also made me feel disoriented and dizzy. Ang gulo-gulo.
I crossed the street with the intention to buy ice cream. This was also our meeting place.
Hindi ako nakabili kasi mahaba ang pila. There was only one attendant and she arranged the gelato like a flower which took more time.
This French couple was so sweet.
I saw two women hugging each other at the corner. I thought they were probably good friends and they could be saying goodbye to each other, then they kissed each other on the cheeks, tapos nagulat ako, bigla silang nag-lips to lips. Ang tagal pa mandin.
Edmund came after half-hour, I was seated at the al-fresco dining of a café, pretending to be drinking coffee so the waiter would not drive me away.
We took a cab back to the hotel.
E————— “Tart, what is our room number?
A————– “302”.
Going to Paris is always a wow. There are areas where goods are not that expensive.
I like reading your buhay Annie, it reminds me of home (Pinas)!
Hay Naku, here are some shopping secrets whenever you go back to Paris. Mga Ma-feeling lang ang nag shopping sa St. Honore at Avenue Montaigne. You have to go to depot vente shops in Paris o segunda Mano. Tunay but a fraction of the price Kase used Di ba. They have a website if you google depot vente.
In addition, if you don’t mind last season’s designs, you have to shop at lavallee village in Val d’Europe malapit sa euro Disney. Take the RER train to get there and get off after the euro Disney stop. They have cavalli, Loro piana, Versace givenchy etc for a fraction of the price.
Keep blogging!
Hi Annie!
I’m glad to have made your day. I know, the Euro ruined Europe.
I live in Canada but in the last four years every Christmas and the summer, my partner and I would go to Paris for vacations so I just kinda got used to the Ins and outs of Paris. Unfortunately, I don’t know any Balikbayan boxes.
Oh and before I forget, a good place to eat in Paris is this restaurant called Villa Spicy. You know how french food could be matabang, this is the only one we’ve found that’s not…a bit more fine dining but worth it. Plus, you have to make a reservation online ahead of time. It is located on avenue Franklin Roosevelt so if you go down the hill on champs élysées towards the big ferries wheel, turn left when you see the Banana Republic store. It’s probably 6-10 meters within avenue Franklin Roosevelt.
Have you seen the Last Supper fresco in Milan? A must see when you go to Milan at the Santa Maria delle grazia church. I’d love to read about your impression of the painting in your blog.
Wow naman you’re going to Bordeaux and meeting with the Mayor! I’ve never been to that region of France so take lots of pictures and blog about it and I’ll live vicariously through your experiences lol.
Anyhow, it’s so nice to see a kababayan being an active leader in business and the women’s movement.
Take care and keep blogging!
