Oyen and some of her high school friends had an informal gathering here at home last Friday night. Dubbed “Wine and Cheese Night”, these ladies wined and dined till almost 2 in the morning, except those already married.
When I was choosing which plates to use, I noticed that some plates were moved. Alam na alam ko pag merong gumalaw ng aking ayos.
I chose this simple plate for the ICA dinner,
and these floral and plain white combination for the cold cuts and cheeses.
With the few dozens of Malaysian mums, I was able to make 4 small flower arrangements for the tables and a big one for the kitchen island centerpiece. I used 4 simple off white ceramic bowls, a gift from Joseph Pangilinan and his wife. The gilded tiny saucer is antique from England.
I have four of these, why three na lang? Hay buhay, lost and taken.
My daughter requested for a pasta dish to go with the wine and cheeses.
I cooked fettucine with a combination of two kinds of langgonisa with minced button mushrooms and lots of garlic and shallots.
I bought two kilos of prawns for grilling.
I thought the food was insufficient but my daughter told me it’s just an informal gathering and some of them would bring crackers and chips.
I bought two kilos of grapes to go with the cheese.
Oyen brought out some almond nuts.
They didn’t finish even half of this cold cuts platter.
They all liked the buko sherbet.
They still look like high school students with waistlines as thin as a stick.

They were looking for their names in our guest book. They had a get together here in 2008 when Oyen was still in college. I probably had a different guest book. Hahanapin ko. Or maybe I forgot to make them sign.
It’s so nice to see this girls again. Parang kailan lang.
