Young boy drives Honda CRV - Oh My Buhay

Young boy drives Honda CRV

We were cruising along Aguinaldo Hway when a car to our left started honking its horn. I thought it’s about us. The guy’s window was open and he was pointing at the vehicle to our right. I looked at the dark green Honda CRV, to my horror, a young boy, probably aged between 10-12 was driving the SUV, with a woman, probably his mom, comfortably seated on the passenger side. There were more people at the back of the car but it’s the window was up so I didn’t see their faces.

A young boy aged 10-12 was driving a dark green Honda CRV with plate number XGZ 569 along the National Hway in Tagaytay City last Monday, August 18, 2014 at 5:13 pm. Going towards rotunda. I opened my van’s sliding door and shouted “May lisensya ka na ba? Bawal yan ha? I was shouting because it was noisy. I told the mom, “pinagmamaneho mo sya?, May lisensya na ba sya, bawal yan”. I wanted to get off but they continued moving. They turned left at a side street probably to ward me off.

Dear parents,
Please don’t do something like this. That is not FUNNY.
If you want to teach young kids how to drive, go to isolated roads or in private roads with no other cars and pedestrians. They must have student permits first.
Do not bring them to highways and major roads like the Aguinaldo Highway in Tagaytay. That’s thoughtless, irresponsible and inconsiderate. And may I remind you, that’s a violation of our laws. There’s a minimum age requirement and driver’s license must first be secured.

  1. You can check the car registration status by using SMS as follows:

There is the Land Transportation Office’s SMS service that allows the public to access official information about a certain motor vehicle. All you have to do is text LTO VEHICLE (PLATE NUMBER) to 2600, and then sit back and relax while LTO’s data computers go to work.
