When the Zuellig building’s construction was almost finished, it had a big sign on it saying it’s a green building. It’s not colored green but maybe it consumes less electricity, less water, or the glass curtains totally repel the sun’s rays.
I had the chance to see the building up close and personal. I went there last wednesday afternoon for a meeting.
I don’t know about their being green but the view is great.
I am pleased that Manila still has lots of greens. All the big houses in Urdaneta Village have tall trees.
The very first time I got to see the Mandarin Oriental hotel was when I was just off college. One time, my brother, Kuya Lito, arrived from San Francisco and this was where he stayed. He let me stay for a night. He has an early meeting so I got up na rin and went down to the lobby with him. When he dropped the key at the front desk, the two male staff manning the counter looked at me in a malicious manner. While my brother was writing something on a piece of paper at the front desk counter, one guy whispered something to the other guy. I knew they were talking about me. Kala siguro babae akong mababa ang lipad. Actually they were wrong, hindi mababa ang lipad ko, hindi talaga ako marunong lumipad. I moved closer to my brother and told him in a loud voice so that the two asshole guys could hear me “Kuya,…….” Their facial expressions changed instantly. Nowadays, even if you call your companion Kuya, they would still think you are paid by the hour.
Our meeting started on time because I was on time. We were almost done when I received a distress call from my daughter. I stood up right away and told the British executive “I’m sorry, I have to go, my daughter needs me”. I didn’t even wait for his reply. I grabbed my bag and laptop and practically ran.
When one is in a hurry, no elevator is fast enough. The elevator is so high tech. It has no buttons to press. Ewan kung lahat ng elevator nila eh ganun.
