When I first saw the light colored vintage clay bricks in Sonya’s Garden many years ago, I secretly wished to have something like that too. I have no place to put them so my wish just got buried in my subconsciousness and it only resurfaced every time I went to either Antonio’s or Sonya’s Garden. I have no patio yet that’s why there’s no urgency in my wish.
I’ve started asking around where I could buy those but wala akong mahanap, until one day, I spotted a stack along the road. We made a U-turn and lo and behold eto nga yung hinahanap ko. I met the store owner and he told me he would like to sell all his stock, 4,500 in all lahatan daw at P60 each. Wala na daw discount kasi P65 daw talaga yun. Naku ang dami naman at ang mahal. Kahit 100 pieces lang happy na ako. I told him I cannot afford to buy the whole 4,500 pieces. I got his card and the following day I sent him a text message if he would be nice enough to spare 300 pieces lang for me. The good ones with the original stamps. He agreed. yehey.
I went back to his store yesterday and bought 400 pieces instead of 300. He only has a few hundreds left. I like him kasi he’s reliable. Even if I haven’t paid him any deposit, he really set aside 300 good ones. Kahapon nga he didn’t even want to accept the payment. Saka ko na lang daw sya bayaran. Pwede pa la’ng utang?
This kind of bricks are 150 – 200 years old or more according to him.
They came from Ilocos. The last time they stumbled upon an old Spanish mansion with this bricks was 4 years ago.
I have no patio yet to put this but I made bilin to Oyen how valuable and rare this bricks are.
I told the store’s katiwala to reserve 300 pieces more for me.
They delivered 410 pieces, libre na daw yung 10 pieces. I like them.
