4 hours to Tagaytay

Sunday August 30, 2015

I didn’t even know that there’s another long weekend (last week). My husband asked me if I wanted to go to Tagaytay, mag-overnight daw kami. Aba, eh di okay. It would be my very first time to go out other than the hospital trips, I got a little excited. Makasagap ako ng sariwang hangin, not just aircon hangin. Medyo I was a little worried how I would survive the long drive.
I booked a room at the Taal Vista Lodge. The duty manager, Paula Quimson, could not give me a better rate than P9,000 a night for the premier room overlooking the Taal Lake kasi daw peak season yata.
That same room is less than P6,000 on ordinary days.
The one without the lake view is P7,500 but I chose the premier room for fear that Edmund would ask me why nagtitipid na naman ako.

We left our house at 10:30 am and reached the tindahan ng mais after 2.5 hours. Grabe! From Nuvali pa lang, heavy traffic na. Tagaytay is no longer a relaxing place to visit on weekends and holidays. Visit it only during weekdays or else a lot of time, money, effort, would we wasted sitting in the ridiculous bumper to bumper traffic and it’s not worth it.

Kung bakit naman, we knew that already. It skipped my mind that thousands of vehicles would be going up to Tagaytay this long weekend.

4 hours Tagaytay traffic

Omb——-“Tart, punta tayo sa church”.
Edm——-“Pag ganito ang traffic, maraming magpapakasal na aatras”.
Omb——-“Dapat weekdays na lang”.

Three hours before we reached the Our Lady of Lourdes.

Many sports car enthusiasts, bikers, cyclists, hike to Tagaytay on weekends in groups. I doubt very much if that weekend activity is still as enjoyable as before. Hiking is no longer possible with this monstrous traffic, crawling na lang.

From the church to Taal Vista Lodge, another one FULL HOUR of crawling-crawling one to three.

Paula upgraded us to a one bedroom suite so we could try it daw for our future stays. The suite occupied two rooms, it has a dining area, living room, two toilets, two television sets.

When my children were still small, we always booked suite rooms so they have more room to run around and play. Pero ngayon we usually get two adjoining rooms.

The suite has two tiny balconies.

Ang sakit na ng bewang namin. Buti pa we went up to Baguio na lang.
Ang sarap humiga.

  1. Looks nice! I was just looking at booking two-night stay for my parents as a gift. They’re in the Philippines for a couple months and this looks like reprieve from smoggy air in the city. Thanks to your warning, I’ll ask them first if they are up for the drive.
