Forty-five minutes from Oberammergau, we stopped at another lovely town on a hill in the southwest  of Bavaria.  We were going to Neuschwanstein Castle built at the beginning of 1864  by King Ludwig II of Bavaria.

People gathered near green carts in a mountainous park with trees and buildings.

Oh my buhay, Bavaria

I thought the bus would bring us all the way to the Neuschwanstein Castle hindi pala. It was three huge steps up: riding the horse carriage, hiking, and climbing up in the rain and hiding from the wind.

Our tour guide James didn’t mention that there would be obstacles before reaching the castle.  Senior citizen na tayo mahirap ng umakyat ng bundok most especiall when it’s raining, windy, and sleepery.

Two very large horses would pull our weights up to reach the second level on the hill. Merong konting nerbyos, baka dumausos kami ay bangin lang naman ang bagsak namin.

Neuschwanstein castleOur tickets were for 10:30 am but we were too slow in climbing up.   We missed our time slot so James had to get a new schedule.  Our tickets were replaced with an 11:30 tour.  Ala eh, ay hindi naman kasi sinabi na aakyat pala ng katarik-tarik na bunrok.

Most people have stopped wearing face masks except we Filipinos.  Nakakatakot magkasakit kaya Emund and I still wear our face masks.  Nakaw nakaw, ayaw nating magka-hawa-hawa.

This castle allegedly became Walt Disney’s inspiration.   Do we see a similarity with the castle in Disneyland?

Videos and cameras were not allowed beyond this area.

More climbing was necessary to reach King Ludwig II’s steeple.  Ang taas, siguro mga 6 flights.  My husband wanted to turn around because he was worried about me.  I might get dizzy.  But go go go ako.  Kaya ko ito.  Medyo slowly lang and deep breathing required.
Medyo nahingal na ako and had to rest for a few seconds.
E—- “Huminga ka kasi.”
My husband is my life coach.  He always tells me “huwag mong kalimutang huminga.”  Kaya buhay pa ako kasi he reminds me not to forget to breathe.

After the short guided tour of King Ludwig’s bedroom, sink, study room, private altar, dining, kitchen, etc. the icing on the cake was shopping for souvenirs aka dagdag kalat sa bahay.

I exercised a lot of restraint kasi mahirap mag-empake.

We bought a few items— t-shirt for Theo, sweater for Nyke, painting, fan for my sister (she collects pamaypay hindi electric fans), etc.

My husband was hurrying me up kasi naiwan na daw kami ng tour mates namin.

My husband said we took the wrong way out. We didn’t end up in the courtyard. We could no longer re-enter the castle. Hayaan na lang, we would just take photos outside.

The rain was incessant. My shoes, bag, were wet already. The cobbled stones were uneven and slippery. I was lucky my umbrella man has strong arms I could hold on to.
