St. Christopher Children’s Home

Even before we left Manila, I searched online about any foundation for abandoned or abused children in St. Kitts, and I found St. Christopher Children’s Home, established in 1950.   As a non-government organization (NGO), the center relies on donations,  cash or in kind. They need volunteers to provide learning opportunities for the children by taking them on field trips, exposing them to different and new activities that will help broaden their understanding of their surroundings, mentoring them, and assisting with homework.
Since I cannot be a volunteer, a little cash would go a long way. They accept and are happy to receive any amount. But of course, if possible, give generously.

Some visitors give $100. When my husband asked how much I intended to give, he laughed at me when I told him $200 or $300. “Ay ano ba yun, huwag ka ng pumunta kung ang konti lang ng ibibigay mo.” So here I was, wholeheartedly handing over my handbag budget. It felt so so good doing this. I don’t think I would feel better if I had used the money to buy a new handbag. No bashing. I am not bragging. I am just telling you the comparison in contentment. I felt a deep sense of satisfaction knowing the money would be used for a better purpose. Perhaps the money was given to me by the universe so I could give it to them. I was only the postman.

I gave them 4 pieces of Humanidad Kontra Abuso t-shirts, from my personal advocacy.
