My son and I skipped the Universal Studios tour. We’d rather relax and shop.
I watched the American Idol’s live telecast at 8 am to 10 am. I inquired from the Filipino’s there kaya I knew what time it would be shown. Unfortunately Jessica Sanchez lost to the super charming Philip Phillips. I am happy at least she reached the finals. Next time, baka tayo na manalo. Nakiki-tayo ako, syempre Pilipino.
Right after the American Idol, my son and I had a hearty breakfast, kasama na lunch.
This Filipino boy graduated from College of Saint Benilde, then apprenticed for six months in Michigan. He regrets leaving Michigan because he said the pay is double than what he gets in Singapore. He’s just been here for a month and siguro nag-a-adjust pa. Naku- hijo, be happy, appreciate your work. Bago ka lang pa naman, okay lang na maliit muna ang sweldo. I saw him being scolded by his superior, a Chinese-looking chef.
We walked to Raffles Hotel which is just around the corner.
The building is a sprawling colonial style villa. The hotel opened in 1887 and was named after Singapore’s founder Sir Stamford Raffles. Until 1940, no chinese was permitted as hotel guest.
Their gift shop has a good selection of souvenirs. Of course I am drawn to the plates.

We couldn’t go inside the hotel lobby, it’s only for residents, bawal sa mga usyosera. Rooms are US$700++ to US$15,000++ a night. Naku kamura lang naman pala, maka tulog nga dyan ng mga ilang araw.
