A visit to my parents

It’s Mother’s Day so we trooped to the Cedar Lawn Family Cemetery today.

The cemetery in Milpitas where my parents were buried.

We brought fresh flowers and candle that would never light because of the strong winds.

When my father died in 1988,  my sister chose gray granite lapida.  The ingraver suggested that my mother’s  name and birthday be included already in the engraving even if she’s still alive so we could save on labor charges.   When my mom found out about it,  she got so mad and upset.  She said buhay pa sya, bakit ipinapanalangin na mamatay na sya.

I noticed this man standing infront of his father's grave for half an hour. Palagay ko matigas ang ulo nya nung buhay pa ang tatay nya, kaya ngayun eh sising-sisi.

Nearby grave. She was a Filipina nurse working in the graveyard shift. She thought she just lacked sleep kaya she had frequent headaches. One day she collapsed, in one week she was dead. Cancer of the brain. She was only in her early 30s when she died.
