Dinner in Duavit's House - Oh My Buhay

Dinner in Duavit’s House

After the mass, T’yo Bibit told me and Edmund “punta kayo sa bahay, may pagkain inihanda, dun tayo maghapunan”
Me—- “sige ho, susunod kami”.

There were tables set-up at the church’s yard and food packs were given away to the barrio folks.
It was a lot cooler outside the church. We stayed for another 10 minutes and drove to the town.

The Duavit compound in Dalig, Binangonan Rizal covers many hectares and overlooks portions of the town and the lake. It looks so different now, there are a lot of big structures which are homes of the Duavit children. The main house looks more like a golf country club, maybe because the Duavits are avid golfers. It didn’t feel like I was still in Binangonan, para kaming nasa Baguio, ang tahimik and I couldn’t hear the tricycles.

I still remember having Sunday lunches here with my mom when I was still small and playing with their children. Their vacation house used to be one huge bahay kubo. They tore it down a few years ago to give-way to this a-la Eastridge Country Club.

Edmund took off his barong and wore a cotton polo shirt pero long sleeves pa rin. I should have brought an extra casual dress.
I was relieved when we entered the door, hay sarap ng aircon. Natuyo na ang pawis ko.

Not a lot of people were there, only the Archbishop, the priests, family, a few close relatives and some local officials.
Gov. Ito Ynares accidentally bumped his forehead on the glass door. Ang lakas ng untog. Blag!
I told him “Ganyan talaga ang nagkaka edad, lumalabo ang mata”.
I sympathize with him because it has happened to me many times. May bukol na, kakahiya pa.

The pork sisig was so good but I was too lazy to go back to the buffet table to get a second serving.

Teka, tayo rin yung nasa church pictures, lumipat lang ng venue at si Father, changed outfit na.

Tiya Vilma said she looks good because she doesn’t have kunsumisyon because her husband is good. I called Edmund so he would hear what Tiya Vilma was saying.

So girls, you heard what Mrs. Duavit said. Kaya look in the mirror, pagka ang tingin mo nget-pa ka, bugbugin ang asawa
“Walanghiya ka, kunsumisyon ka, pinapangit mo ako!”
