My Daughter’s Birthday Dinner at Canton Road

We haven’t been throwing birthday parties at home in recent years, at least not in the past 5 years. Tamad na kami.

For my daughter’s advance birthday celebration last Friday, she treated a dozen of her friends to a big dinner at SEVA, a Michelin Guide Restaurant in San Juan and a favorite among the Xavier and ICA community.

This year, I didn’t give her the usual angpao. No jewelry either. Instead, I found myself remembering something from a few years ago, when I bought her a tea set from Herend in Budapest.

Young people don’t usually care for such things. But maybe someday she will. Perhaps when she’s older, she’ll begin to appreciate plates and saucers, and the quiet stories they carry.

Off we go to Shangri-La The Fort in BGC. We couldn’t all fit in one vehicle, so the kids rode with Wowo and Wowa.

Etoo ang blow-out ni Oyen sa amin, our family celebration.

Oyen ordered so much food, but we barely got to focus on eating. Our attention was divided between one small baby—and one big baby—who kept us thoroughly occupied.

May Oyen live a full life of contentment, stability, good health, and prosperity. May she and her family be blessed with long, healthy, and happy lives.

A blessed birthday, anak. Mommy and Daddy, and Shoti super love you.
