My September 5 became a day of extremes.
While I was getting ready for work, my daughter texted and requested me to go to the wake of her friend’s dad, Dr. De Guzman to represent her. She’s attending an early meeting and she would be at school till 10 pm. I went to the wake in one of the chapels at Christ the King Parish.
Sa dami ng mga bulaklak, which overflowed to the adjacent chapels, I could tell that the deceased, Dr. De Guzman, had either many friends, followers, admired, loved, respected, revered, or all of the above.
I did not know Dr. De Guzman personally but I have met his son Vincent, who’s a neurologist at St Luke’s Hospital.
Julienne said I sign on her behalf. After I wrote down our names, I went inside and saw a dozen people who were probably wondering who I was. I texted Julienne and told her I would stay for 10 minutes and leave.
