FVR, Sec. Domingo & other guests @ Makati Ford launching

Noel Onate seldom attends parties. When he does, he only stays for a few minutes. He arrives on time but disappears even before the program starts, or before the meals are served. @ the Makati Ford launching, he stayed for a while, maybe because FVR is around.
Noel’s one and only kid is a friend and school mate of Oyen in college.

When FVR was still president, the only cabinet minister who had the pleasure of introducing him was the Secretary of the Department of Trade and Industry, Rizalino “Roy” Navarro (+). In his absence, the Secretary of Foreign Affairs. No further introduction or credentials were necessary. Just the mere mention of his name or his position. Anywhere in the world, this is the protocol. For example:

“Ladies and Gentlemen, the President of the Republic of the Philippines, Fidel V. Ramos”

Since FVR is no longer the encumbent president, I can now deviate from the protocol.

I gave a short introduction, not about his credentials, but something about our travels before.
It’s such an honor and privilege to be able to do this, to introduce him as the next speaker.

Half-way my introduction, DTI Sec. Greg Domingo arrived so I paused and acknowledged the presence of Sec. Domingo.
He, together with Pnoy and some cabinet members just arrived today (January 28, 2013) from Davos, Switzerland.

FVR has a way of making people burst into laughter. Even during his presidency, when we were traveling from one country to another, he would walk around the plane and tell us stories, share his wisdom, and crack jokes.

He made us all jump, similar to what happened at the EDSA Revolution. Edmund said we should find that photo of FVR wearing yellow and jumping in EDSA.

Look at us, we’re like attending a prayer rally. Halleluia Amen!

FVR thumbs-up

FVR worked up the crowd including Pro. Noli Santos who normally doesn’t leave his chair.
Matt Bradley and Randy Krieger were so game.

When he was still the President, nasa protocol din na bawal mag beso-beso most specially during official functions.
Dapat shake hands lang. Ngayon pwede na.
