Because of heavy traffic blamed on intermittent rain, I found myself hanging-out in Rockwell for two hours while waiting for my daughter last, last friday. Instead of me going home then driver going back to Rockwell to pick my daughter up, I just waded it out at the mall. We saved gas, but I got bundat from eating while waiting, and ended up shopping too.
I settled for a dimsum dinner at Shilin on the second floor.
I asked the waiter if the one on the picture had noodles.
He didn’t answer my question, instead he pointed at another picture of noodles.
“Eto ang mga noodles”.
I am very particular about comprehension. Gusto ko yung question ko sinasagot ng diretso, before proceeding to another topic. Pag ganyan, masungit ako.
“Alam ko, may noodles yan, kitang-kita naman ang picture. Ang tanong ko, kung ito (pointing at another photo) ay may noodles”.
“Walang noodles yan”.
“Ayun, iyan ang sagot”.
He left me with a big frown. I knew what’s in his mind”BRUHA!”
I finished this bowl of shrimp wanton soup (without noodles).
The fried prawn cake in their Podium branch is better.
I had two more hours to burn so I stayed for a while.
Aside from playing Candy Crush, nalibang ako from listening to the conversations of two young adults, dating at the table next to mine. I could hear their topic loud and clear. It was a clear validation of my theory that when a guy is in love with you, it doesn’t matter what you talk about. You don’t have to sound intelligent or smart, you can talk stupid and yet, he would still be in awe.
Mestiza girl——- “You know my dad plays golf”.
Gwapo guy———- “My dad also”.
Mestiza girl——- “My dad calls me beautiful”.
Gwapo guy———- “Yeah, he can call you that”.
Mestiza girl——- “One time my mom and my tita went shopping and they told me it’s nice to shop in ____________, that’s nice no?”
Gwapo guy———- “My mom shops also. Yeahh, that’s nice”.
(Wait, I am lost in translation, alin ba ang nice, parang no sense, but the guy was starry eyed, all eyes and ears to the girl).
Infatuated indeed.
I didn’t mind getting stranded in Rockwell or Powerplant Mall. It’s a beautiful place to spend two hours. It’s not very crowded. The people walking around looked like they’re going to a debut party. Some women were wearing very high heals and long dresses that looked like party gowns. Women brought out their nicest handbags.
I heard someone saying after going to SM Aura that it’s a classy place full of jejemons (no offense intended). Rockwell is a classy place too, full of jamons, mamons, and camons.
While walking past the Rolex store, I smelled some chemicals. I was gripped with paranoia, naku baka may sumabog. Baka naman Chlorox lang. Medyo para akong hinika sa amoy.
There’s a smaller TWG here
30 more minutes to go, I went inside the ALDO store,
Parang usung-uso na ito, lahat gaya-gaya na.
Patay, I gave in to temptation. I bought a pair of tsinelas that looks similar to what I already have.
Daughter came and since she’s hungry, kain ulit ako. Bundat na.
