I’ve not been attending SBEP alumni meetings, events, etc. kasi they always coincided with my other activities.
Yesterday, pinilit ko talaga. I had reminders on my desk and on my phone to make sure I made it this time.
The Kapihan’s from 8 to 10. Invite me this early and most likely I would skip the first part.
I left our house at 8:25 am. The University of Asia and the Pacific is very near our place kaya I only allotted 15 minutes travel time. Buti no traffic.

I arrived in less than 15 minutes.

No more receptionist. I signed in and made my own name tag. When I arrived in my office, naka name tag pa ako.
They were showing some video clips of Dr. Emil Antonio when I entered the conference room. Dean Emil Antonio died last month of cancer and part of yesterday’s Kapihan was a short tribute to him. After the short AVP, Dr. acknowledged the presence of Emil’s wife who was seated at the back end near the buffet table.
Prof————- “I would like to acknowledge the presence of the real first wife of Dr. Antonio….”
I was like “huh” is there such a thing as a R E A L FIRST WIFE? Was he joking?
Meron bang fake first wife? real second wife? true first wife? organically grown first wife or genetically altered second wife?
If I were the wife, I would ask for a qualification of that statement. Naku- iintrigahin ko pa. Baka multuhin ako ni Emil, ang bait-bait pa mandin sa akin.
I wouldn’t want to be introduced as a real first wife even if biro lang. That’s not funny at all. I would feel insulted to the nth degree.
We women suffer a lot of insults from men’s macho-istic hallucinations. Sobra silang mga feeling Adonis. They always want to imply na marami silang mga babae. Sobrang nakaka pikon. Tingin ko mga Pilipino lang.
What if we start introducing them as the legally acknowledged first husband?
Men are so insecure of themselves. They need to use women to caress their bloated egos and hide their vulnerability.
They always have to resort to insulting remarks against the very people they should respect. Many lose their senses when in front of gorgeous female. They act as if they haven’t seen a woman before. Parang mga bubuwit na hindi ma-ta-eh. Gusto na agad hubuin ang mga salawal.
