Travel Back - Oh My Buhay

January 28, 2017

Ever since Edmund accidentally spilled a glass of red wine on my LV bag while on a Delta Airlines flight from Narita to San Francisco in October of 2011, it had become my tradition to wrap my handbag every single time I am on the plane. Better to be a girl scout than sorry.
My husband was traumatized by my screams when it happened that’s why he no longer orders red wine when he’s traveling with me. Kurutin ko bumbunan nya pag naulit pa yun.

I’ve been away long enough, time to go home.
I was on the same flight as my sister in law. She’s going to Bacolod for their school’s jubilee celebration.

The flight was generally smooth. The few times the plane shook, I was deep asleep. Medyo nagigising lang ako ng konti pag malakas ang uga pero malakas ang effect ng Bonamine sa akin. Nakakatulog talaga ako.

The size of the tv screen was too small for its distance from the chair. It should be bigger.

I didn’t watch a single movie because my eyes got strained by mere looking at the screen.

A lot of people criticize PAL for not serving good food on board. I couldn’t relate to that because I’ve always found PAL’s meals satisfactory. Some dishes were very good.

I woke up after several hours and immediately, the flight attendant offered me hot lugaw.

This old lady stood up to go to the toilet but she went back to her seat because she said the light was green and and the sign on the toilet door was colored green. Her seatmate told her to go back because the green color meant there was no one using the lavatory.

We landed on time at the NAIA Terminal 1 on January 30, 2017. As soon as I emerged from the tarmac, I saw a guy holding a placard with my name and Dimple’s printed in bold letters. Para akong VIP. The guy offered to carry my bags. Nope, I politely said no. He helped my sister in law instead. I don’t want to get used to someone carrying my bags. I don’t want to get spoiled. Kasi when I am traveling abroad, no one is going to do that for me, ayaw kong masanay. Okay lang with my sister in law because she seldom comes home to the Philippines.

It was actually my brother who sent a guy to assist his wife.

We were one of the firsts to reach the immigration section.

The guy never left my sister in law’s side. He assisted her all the way. Me naman, still refusing to be helped in any way. I need to carry some weight and ambulate otherwise, I will age even faster.

Black colored luggage is very common. Next time let’s buy a different color.

Pushing my cart down the arrival ramp has always been a tricky challenge. I could slide down all the way to the bottom, dragged by my heavy luggage.

My brother picked up my sister in law, they were flying straight to Bacolod. Me, uwi na.
