I’ve known Jackie since a year ago. One morning she introduced herself to me and we became instant friends. She and her husband have two sons who are both married and have two children each.
I’ve been to her bungalow house in a guard-gated community a few times. She and I have similar decorating styles. We both like large windows to let natural light flow into the whole room.
The first time she invited me over, I caught her reading the bible in her dining room. I thought oh that’s why she’s such a nice person. She’s white, born and raised in California where she met her first boyfriend in high school and now loving husband of 42 years.
She gave me a book about the teachings of Jesus.
She picked me up and we had lunch at a nearby golf and country club.
We both had coconut shrimps and shared a plate of chicken wings with garlic parmesan. Would you believe one of the chefs in this club is a Filipino?
She’s on Keto diet and has lost a few inches.
Her husband was raised a Catholic while she was Lutheran. They go to a Bible service for about an hour every Sunday, something similar to our Sunday mass.
Jackie and I prayed before our meal. We held hands and closed our eyes while praying for a few minutes after our meal and before we separated.
Siguro our meeting was not coincidental. Maybe God intentionally sent her to convert me. Para daw bumait ako. Or maybe He knows I need a friend I can talk to about life.
