Bobby Jaworski, Rudy Distrito, Jeric Hechanova

Edmund posted on our family Viber group a photo with basketball legend Bobby Jaworski and Rudy “Dong” Distrito. When he came home, he told me he saw a big bus parked alongside the road. Apparently the Ginebra basketball players were practicing at the gym so he stopped by to say hello. He had a short kumustahan with Joey Loyzaga, and greeted his former Crispa team mate Leo Isaac, and former UST players turned pro: Pido Jarencio, Val David, Benet Palad, and Sonny Cabatu. Ex-Ginebra players Marlou Aquino, and Nonoy Locsin were also there practicing for their exhibition- fundraising game this coming weekend. Rudy introduced Edmund to Dodot Jaworski.

A—–“Oh, bakit hindi mo sila inaya dito sa bahay? Kaya lang wala tayong pagkain, pabili ka ng pizza.”
E—–“Oo nga sana kaya lang wala tayong pagkain. Huwag na. Saka na lang.”
E—–“Gusto mo mag-hello kay Rudy?”
A—–“Ayaw ko, saka na.”
Rudy and wife Jocelyn are long-time friends of ours. magkumapreng buo si Edmund at si Rudy. mag-boyfriend pa lang kami, magkasama na sila ni Edmund sa Crispa quarters. They’ve attended many of my kids’ birthdays and we’ve attended many of theirs. They’ve been friends for almost 40 years.

We were about to leave for our Valentine’s date when Jeric Hechanova, Edmund’s Luisita Golf team manager messaged him about the photo. Edmund posted the same photo pala in their golf Viber group. Edmund and I hurriedly left home and went back to the gym.

Edmund introduced Jeric to Jawo and Rudy. Jeric played for the Ateneo Blue Eagles and his father was a former officer of the sports commission.
