Holy Wednesday Procession in Pilapila - Oh My Buhay

Holy Wednesday Procession in Pilapila

This is a yearly commitment on my part. It’s good I have Jaymar Paralejas and the parish priest of Pilapila who helped put things together. The St. John the Evangelist’s carosa needed repair, the chandeliers and spotlights needed total replacements, including a new dress, hair, halo, and carosa skirt. The florist, Kevin, took care of decorating the carosa with fresh flowers for the Palm Sunday procession, for the Holy Wednesday, and Good Friday processions.

The only time I am able to join is on Holy Wednesdays. This I made clear even before I agreed to have a santo. Byernes Santo kasi nasa bayan kami.

My husband and I went to Pila-pila on April 17, 2019 and it was a big relief that traffic was lighter than expected.

St. John looks spanking cool.

The church marshalls who help us push the carosa every year.

Una, ang init, Pangalawa, I needed a blouse that could easily slip over my head and shoulders without having to move my right arm.

With the young parish priest.

The procession started well ahead of time because there was no long mass or ceremony held inside the church unlike in the past.

I did not eat before leaving our house in QC kaya gutom na ako. Parang nagpi-picnic.

Buti tahimik na yung isang carosa na last year eh merong mga speakers na akala mo karaoke. Nagpapatugtog sila ng music nila habang nagpu-prusisyon. Bawal yan. A procession must be a solemn activity. People must be praying while walking or watching the procession.

Sobra akong pawis, kasi ang init. The sling added to the heat.
