Left on Feb 25, Arrived on Feb 25

February 25, 2020,

Left Manila on Tuesday, Feb 25, arrived in America on the same day. Amazing.

From the airport, our first meal is usually at In-N-Out because it’s the only place open at close to midnight. But tonight is different. Since we arrived earlier than usual, Chipotle is still open so In-N-Out out, Chipotle in.

The unpacking begins

Ohhh fresh basil no more.

February 26, Wednesday
It was so difficult to get out of bed the next morning. Both Oyen and I woke up late at almost noon.

We hurriedly dressed up, deliberated on where to go, and agreed to give priority to the more important things.   After several minutes of discussions,  she agreed to my original game plan.  We took Uber and traveled for more than an hour to go to the city.

I fell asleep while Oyen and the Uber driver were having a good conversation about a wide range of topic.  The driver  is a college graduate, a former marketing executive, well traveled, and is currently finishing writing his first book.

Yen and I felt very sad when we found out that Papyrus is closing all their stores nationwide in two days.

We bought a dozen greeting cards at super discounted prices.

From Papyrus, we went to the ladies room to wash our hands, there was a homeless woman who shampooed, then drying her hair using the hand dryer.

Sometimes life is so cruel and people’s journey so rugged and jagged, what more to those who don’t have a house they can call their home. A place to rest when they are weary and tired, and a soft mattress and a clean pillow to lay their heads.

These flowers look pretty perfect, I thought they are unreal. Oops, fresh pala.

February 27, 2020, Thursday

In stark contrast to my first night, I had difficulty falling asleep on the second night.  I only had maybe three hours of sleep, from 6 am to 9 am.

Yen and I had an easy decision as to where we would have lunch. Japanese!

Fried cheese wanton dumplings

Bento box lunch special

Next, some shopping

We went to JOANN, my mom’s favorite store.

Edmund is arriving tomorrow Feb 27 and we need some food.

I really like the cashier’s hair color. But maybe a little darker for my skin tone. My husband has been encouraging me to color my hair blue since I like blue. After my daughter’s wedding, maybe in May 2021 before my birthday. When you’re old, no one would bother to stare at how you look and mind what you do with your life. Freedom!!!!
